Kent Listed on ABCA All-Region Team

2019 ABCA All-Region Teams

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia freshman Nic Kent (Charlottesville, Va.) is a first team honoree on the 2019 Atlantic American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Region Team. Kent was the lone freshman on the first team and the first UVA freshman position player ever to be voted on the first team.
 
He joins pitcher Danny Hultzen as the only two Cavalier freshmen to be First Team ABCA All-Region selections. It also marked the second-straight year a Cavaliers second baseman has been recognized on the first team.
 
The ABCA Atlantic Region is comprised of 38 schools along the East Coast. As a first team honoree, Kent is now eligible for the ABCA All-America team scheduled to be announced later this summer.
 
Kent adds to his growing list of accolades that included Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and First Team All-ACC laurels.
 
Kent batted .337, the second highest average on the team and 12^th highest in the ACC. He drove in a team-high, 42 RBI, becoming the first UVA freshman to lead the team in RBI in 20 years. His 17 stolen bases were the third most ever by a UVA first year.
 
In 56 games, he compiled 68 hits, nine doubles, three triples and three home runs. In conference play, Kent ranked in the top-10 among his ACC cohorts in stolen bases (10 – T-3^rd), triples (3 – T-2^nd) and hits (40 – T-8^th). He finished the year with a team-best, 11 multi-RBI performances and reached base safely in his final 16 games.
 
A Cavalier has been recognized on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team in 12 of the last 13 seasons. Under head coach Brian O’Connor, 28 Cavaliers have garnered All-Region accolades and 13 have gone on to earn All-America honors.
