Charlottesville, Va. –The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced today (June 20) that UVA senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) has been named the 2019 University Division Golfer of the Year. It marks the second consecutive year Walsh has received the honor.
 
Walsh was also named a first-team pick to the VaSID All-State University Division Team. He was joined on the all-state team by Cavalier junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). It marked the first time Orischak received the honor.
 
Walsh consistently led UVA throughout his senior year, topping the team in scoring with a 70.64 average and leading the team in scoring during six tournaments. He accrued five top-10 finishes and picked up his second career tournament victory at Toledo’s Inverness Intercollegiate. He was named to the 2019 All-ACC and PING All-Region teams.
 
Orischak finished the season with the team’s second-lowest stroke average at 71.70. He led the Cavaliers’ as the top finisher at three tournaments this year and placed in the top-10 at the John Burns Intercollegiate and the Clemson Invitational. He joined Walsh on the PING All-Region squad.
