CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball senior Lacy Smith (Lancaster, Pa.) was tabbed a first-team All-State selection by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), as announced on Monday (July 1).
 
This is the first time Smith has earned All-State recognition and caps a senior campaign where the first baseman racked up All-ACC, NFCA All-Region and All-America honors.
 
Smith hit a career-best .414, posting the third-highest batting average in Virginia softball history. The slugger also set the school record for single-season home runs by launching 15 this season. Smith’s .784 slugging percentage set a single-season record at UVA.

Smith finished the season with top 10 marks in nine different categories at Virginia. She drove in 43 runs in 2019, marking the eighth-most in a single season in Virginia history.
 
Smith’s outstanding senior season also vaulted her into the career record books at Virginia. Her 29 career home runs are tied for fourth in program history while her .543 slugging percentage ranks eighth all-time.
