Virginia Master Plan

BOSTON, Mass. – Virginia’s Varsity Eight finished fourth among collegiate crews in the Women’s Championship Eights at the 55th Head of The Charles Regatta Sunday (Oct. 20) in Boston.
 
The USTC – Princeton boat featuring former UVA star Kristine O’Brien won the race in 15:05.842. Stanford (15:24.784), Yale (15:29.572) and Princeton (15:30.102) finished ahead of the Cavaliers (15:37.213) among collegiate boats. UVA placed sixth overall in one of the premier races in the regatta.
 
The UVA Varsity Eight featured coxswain Colette Glass (Tampa, Fla.), stroke Reilly White (Wyckoff, N.J.), Lizzie Trull (Wellesley, Mass.), Star Davidson (Canterbury, N.Z), Sophia Kershner (Palmyra, Va.), Katy Flynn (Churchville, N.Y.), Isabella Strickler (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), To Wiersma (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and bow Carrie Warner (East London, South Africa).
 
On Saturday (Oct. 19), two UVA boats raced in the Women’s Alumni Eights. The crew featuring Izzi Weiss, Mackenzie King, Alex Slabbert, Shiann Gardner, Sophie Pennoyer, Georgia Gray, Chelsea Adams, Jennifer Reid and Keziah Beall placed fourth.

In addition, former UVA All-American Colette Lucas-Conwell coxed the USTC – Oakland boat to a first-place finish in the Men’s Championship Eights race. Lucas-Conwell became the first women to ever cox the men’s national team eight.
 
The Cavaliers return to action at the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Oct. 27.
