Charlottesville, VA – Former UVA golfers Elizabeth Szokol and Lauren Coughlin received status for the 2020 LPGA Tour following the conclusion of the LPGA Q-Series this weekend in Pinehurst, N.C. They both were among the players who finished in the top-45 of the third stage of qualifying that included eight rounds of play.
 
Szokol, who graduated from UVA in 2016, tied for 11th place at 2-under 570. The 25-year-old native of Winnetka, Ill., earned LPGA Tour membership in 2019 after finishing fourth in the 2018 Symetra Tour’s Race for the Card series. As an LPGA Tour rookie in 2019, she competed in 20 events, with a season-best finish of T6 at Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open. Her senior season at UVA, she earned honorable mention All-America honors and was the co-medalist at the NCAA Regional at Stanford.
 
Coughlin, who also graduated from Virginia in 2016 and is a native of Chesapeake, Va., tied for 41st place at 5-over 577. She was a LPGA Tour rookie in 2018 and posted a career-best finish of 50th at the 2018 Kingsmill Championship. She finished tied for seventh at the 2017 LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to first earn LPGA status for 2018. In 2019, on the Symetra Tour, she made 18 cuts in 20 starts, with four top-10s and a season-best runner-up finish at the inaugural SKYiGOLF Championship; In 2018, she won as a non-Member at the PHC Classic. At UVA, she was a two-time All-American and won the ACC individual title in 2016.
 
Anna Redding, a 2019 UVA graduate, made the cut for the final two rounds of the Q-Series and finished 80th. She will receive Symetra Tour Membership status for its 2020 campaign.
 
The Q-Series was held at Pinehurst Resort with the first week of competition taking place on Pinehurst No. 6 and the second week staged on Pinehurst No. 9.
