LAS VEGAS – Virginia women’s tennis freshman Natasha Subhash (Fairfax, Va.) competed over the weekend at the Henderson Tennis Open, advancing to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw. The Henderson Tennis Open is a $60k ITF/USTA event and was played at the DragonRidge Country Club.

Subhash rallied in both qualifying matches, claiming a 10-point tiebreak in both rounds after splitting the first sets in each match. The Virginia freshman defeated Viktoria Morvayova in the first round of qualifying before knocking off Giuliana Olmos of Mexico, who was seeded third in qualifying, in the second round.

Subhash won her opening match of the main draw with a straight-set victory over Johanna Larson of Sweden, before falling to fellow American and eighth-seeded Caroline Dolehide in the Round of 16. Dolehide currently has a WTA ranking of No. 148, while Larsson has a WTA ranking of No. 216.
