CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior midfielder Rachel Robinson (Mount Joy, Pa.) picked up another postseason honor, being named the VaSID Field Hockey State Player of the Year, as announced Friday (Dec. 20) by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.
 
Head coach Michele Madison was named the State Coach of the Year, her seventh time winning the honor, after leading the Cavaliers to the NCAA semifinals. Madison tallied both her 400th career victory and her 200th win as the Cavaliers’ head coach this season.
 
Robinson, a first-team All-American and an All-ACC first team honoree, started all 23 games for the Cavaliers as a defensive midfielder. She ended the season with five goals and four assists for 14 points. Scored the game-winning goals against Penn State and the regular-season meeting with Duke. She also scored Virginia’s lone goal in the NCAA semifinal game against Princeton.
 
Sophomore back Amber Ezechiels (Niew Vennep, Netherlands) and redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Hausheer (West Windsor, N.J.) joined Robinson in earning first team honors. Senior back Anzel Viljoen (Matamata, New Zealand)) and sophomore midfielder Greer Gill (Virginia Beach, Va.) earned second team honors.
