MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. –  Virginia diving senior Sydney Dusel (Naperville, Ill.) recorded two top-10 finishes at the USA Diving National Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on Sunday (Dec. 22).

The senior finished the winter national championships with a fifth-place finish on the 1m board and a 10th-place finish on the 3m board.

Dusel recorded a score of 243.05 in the finals of the 1m board to combine for an overall score of 471.45. Her performance in the finals moved her into a top-five finish, advancing from a sixth-place finish during the preliminary rounds. Dusel recorded a score 228.40 during the prelims.

After finishing the 3m board semifinals on Friday with an 11th-place finish and a score of 546.65, Dusel worked her way into the top 10 during the day’s events. She captured a score of 249.65 to finish with an overall score of 796.30.

Dusel and the Cavalier divers will return to action on January 3 to compete in the three-day Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.
