No. 8 Virginia Tops Dickinson 8-1
CARLISLE, Pa. – The No. 8 Virginia men’s squash team (10-3) captured an 8-1 win against Dickinson (4-9) on Sunday (Jan. 19) at the Kline Squash Center.
Senior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) opened the match with a 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 win over Hussien Eldesouky in position seven as sophomore Will Holey (Greenwich, Conn.) followed with a 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 win against Tanay Murdia in position three.
Redshirt freshman Peter Miller (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) defeated Graham Henderson 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-6 in position six. Junior Matthew Katz (Baltimore, Md.) topped Benjamin Gemma 11-4, 11-3, 11-6 in position nine as freshman Aly Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) cliched the win with a 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 victory over Abdelrahman Elsergany at the top of the order.
Junior Andrew Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) extended the lead, going 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 against Michael Tricolli in position eight as sophomore Glenn Yates (Cape Town, South Africa) and freshman Omar El Torkey (New Cairo, Egypt) rounded out the match with wins in position five and two, respectively. Yates defeated Kobe Fleming 11-7, 14-12, 11-13, 11-3, while El Torkey topped Alexander Wattles 11-7, 11-5, 11-4.
Virginia returns to the courts on Sunday (Jan. 26) to host Columbia at the McArthur Squash Center.
