Virginia Master Plan | 2020 Schedule

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia rowing head coach Kevin Sauer announced the team’s 2020 schedule on Monday (Jan. 27). The 10-time defending Atlantic Coast Conference champions will compete in seven regattas and two scrimmages during its 25th year of collegiate racing.

“As in years past, we are challenging ourselves early and often, and looking forward to great racing.” Sauer said.

Virginia will scrimmage ACC rival Duke (Feb. 29) and Rutgers (March 7) before heading to the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational in Tennessee (March 14-15). Last year, the Cavaliers won 12 of 15 races at the regatta, which has served as UVA’s official spring opener for several seasons.

UVA will host Duke, Tennessee, Navy, UCLA and UCF in the Rivanna Duals (March 27-28) before traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to face Big Ten heavyweights Ohio State and Michigan (April 4).

The Cavaliers travel back to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the B1G Invite (April 10-11) before concluding the regular season at the Longhorn Invite in Austin, Texas (April 25).

The 21st ACC Rowing Championships will be held on Friday-Saturday, May 15-16 in Clemson, S.C., marking the 11th-straight year the Tigers have hosted the regatta. Virginia has won 19 of the 20 conference championships and has claimed 77 of the 85 events contested. The conference regatta features five events, including the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Third Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 29-31 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Cavaliers placed 10th at the NCAA Championships last season.
