WASHINGTON –  The No. 8 Virginia men’s squash team (15-4) swept No. 24 Dickinson in the opening round of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Championships at Squash on Fire on Friday (Feb. 7).
 
Freshman Peter Miller (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) opened the match with an 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 win against Hussien Eldesouky in position five. Freshman Omar El Torkey (New Cairo, Egypt) went 11-3, 11-3, 11-3 against Alexander Wattles in position one while freshman Teddy Durfee (Bedford, N.Y.) went 11-4, 11-1, 11-3 in position four against Patrick Noonan.
 
Senior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) recorded the fourth point of the match with an 11-4, 11-1, 11-3 win against Benjamin Gemma in position six as junior William Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) clinched the match point with an 11-5, 11-6, 11-8 win in position eight against Adil Tibrawalia.
 
Freshman Aly Hussein (Cairo, Egypt) defeated Tanay Murdia 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in position two as senior Harrison Kapp (Philadelphia, Pa.) defeated Brando Qiu 11-3, 11-0, 11-1 in position nine and freshman Cullen Little (Baltimore, Md.) defeated Gram Henderson 11-8, 11-0, 11-6 in position four. Sophomore Will Holey (Greenwich, Conn.) rounded out the match with an 11-5, 11-7, 11-9 win against Kobe Fleming in position three.
 
Virginia will return to action on Saturday, facing No. 12 George Washington (9-8) at 12:15 p.m. at Squash on Fire.
 
Match Notes:
• Virginia recorded its third straight 9-0 win against a ranked opponent.
• The Cavaliers are 3-1 against Dickinson since becoming a varsity program.
• Little, Durfee and Kapp recorded an 11-0 game win in the match.
• Virginia will face George Washington for the second time this season after defeating the Colonials 7-2 in November.
