CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Ashlyn McGovern (Phoenix, Md.) was named Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
 
McGovern, along with Syracuse’s Emily Hawryschuk, shared the ACC weekly honor this week. McGovern scored a career-high five goals, including the game-winner, at No. 15 Navy. She scored her first goal of the day as time expired in the first half to send UVA into the break trailing 6-4. The attacker had back-to-back goals to tie the game 10-10. The Cavaliers were down 13-11 with just over four minutes to play. UVA cut it to one, then McGovern tied the game once again to send it to overtime. Just 46 seconds into the extra period, McGovern scored the game-winner.
 
McGovern was also named the US Lacrosse Player of the Week for her performance in the win.
 
Virginia is on the road this week, at Stanford on Friday, Feb. 14, and at California on Sunday, Feb. 16.
