Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia men’s golf team plays its first team tournament of the spring when the Cavaliers compete at the 44th annual John Burns Intercollegiate. The event is contested at the par-72 Wailua Golf Course in Lihu’e, Kauai’i.
 
The 54-hole tournament will take place Thursday, Feb. 20 through Saturday, Feb. 22. The 21-team field will play 18 holes each day with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. HT.
 
The field features Arizona, BYU, California, Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawai’i, Illinois, Long Beach State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Northern Colorado, Saint Mary’s, Santa Clara, Texas A&M, UC Irvine, UNC Wilmington, UNLV, Utah, UTEP and Washington State.
 
Virginia’s lineup includes senior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), junior WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines), senior Chris White (Garden City, N.Y.), freshman Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) and junior Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.). Senior Nathan Chuwait (Herndon, Va.) will compete as an individual.
 
Last season the Cavaliers finished 12th at the event with a score of 2-under 866. Orischak led UVA’s effort with a score of 6-under 210 to finish ninth. Virginia won the tournament in 2017.
