PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sophomore Sydney Maxwell (Toronto, Ontario) fell in the Holleran South consolation finals, the B division of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships, at Pennsylvania’s Penn Squash Center on Sunday (March 8).
Maxwell suffered a four-game loss to Mihiliya Kalahe Arachchige of Mt. Holyoke in the consolation finals. The Virginia sophomore dropped her opening two games 11-5, 11-2, before rallying to take the third game at 16-14. She fell 11-7 in the fourth game to end the day as the Holleran South consolation final runner-up.
Prior to her match against Arachchige, Maxwell suffered an 11-9, 11-8, 12-14, 11-7 Round of 16 loss to Haley Jefferson of Williams before winning back-to-back matches to advance to Sunday’s consolation finals. She recorded an 11-4, 11-1, 11-4 win against Hope Worcester of Hamilton in the consolation quarterfinals and an 11-5, 15-13, 11-8 win against Marcela Marquez of William Smith in the consolation semifinals.
