Bandon, Ore. – Two members of the Virginia men’s golf team open play at the 120th U.S. Amateur Championship Monday (Aug. 10) at Bandon Dunes Golf Result in Bandon, Ore. Freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) and sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) will both tee off at the Bandon Dunes course as part of the 264-player field.

Bovari will be first on the course Monday with a 1:03 p.m. PT tee time. Dugngmanee follows at 2:09 p.m. The field will play 18-holes of stroke play on Monday and Tuesday before the field is cut to 64 players for match play. The match play will run through Sunday.

Bovari played in four tournaments at UVA last season and finished his first year of collegiate golf with a 73.58 stroke average. He led the Cavaliers in scoring in his final event before the season was suspended with a fourth-place showing at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

Duangmanee recently reached the semifinals of the 118th Western Amateur Championship at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind. He was 14th during stroke play and upset reigning medalist Davis Thompson in the quarterfinals. Thompson was ranked fourth in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and Matthias Schmid, who he beat in the round of 16, was ranked No. 25 by the WAGR.
