CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s and women’s soccer programs were named recipients of the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2019-20 season as announced by the organization on Thursday (Sept. 24).

Virginia is one of 183 schools nationally to have both programs receive the honor for the 2019-20 academic year. The Virginia men’s program received the recognition for the second-straight season and third time in the last four years. The Virginia women’s program earned the recognition for the 11th consecutive season.

College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2019-20 academic year.

Virginia women’s soccer (1-1-1) will travel to Blacksburg on Friday night (Sept. 25) to take on Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. on ACCNX. The Cavalier men will open up their season on the road against the Hokies next Saturday (Oct. 3) at 6 p.m.
