CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia volleyball (1-0, 0-0 ACC) begins its eight-match ACC schedule with a pair of contests against Duke (2-0, 2-0 ACC) on Friday (Oct. 2) and Saturday (Oct. 3). Both matches are set for a 6:30 p.m. first serve in Memorial Gymnasium.

Due to health and safety considerations in addition to the current guidelines established for sports venues by the Commonwealth of Virginia, attendance at UVA home competitions is limited to family of student-athletes and each team’s coaching staff until further notice. There is no public admission to these events and all tailgating in University parking lots is prohibited.

BILLIARD OFF TO HOT START

  • Veteran Sarah Billiard led Virginia with nine kills in its opening-match sweep of The Citadel
  • Billiard entered the season needing 137 kills to join the 1,000-career kill club at UVA, she now needs 128
  • Billiard produced 10 kills against Duke in a three-set loss last season and has 19 kills in her past two matches against the Blue Devils

DOMINIQUE SETS NEW BAR

  • In her first season on Grounds, Simone Dominique appeared in just 20 sets recording six total kills
  • Against The Citadel, Dominique matched that season total with a career-best six kills in three sets

HOOS vs. BLUE DEVILS

  • Duke leads the all-time series by a 54-13 margin
