Spartanburg, S.C. – Virginia junior golfer Riley Smyth (Cary, N.C.) took top honors Tuesday at the Golfweek Carolina Country Club Amateur contested in Spartanburg, S.C. Smith posted rounds of 69, 72 and 78 for a three-day total of 3-over 219.

“This one feels good,” Smyth told Golfweek. “I definitely haven’t been playing my best this fall, just with COVID and just trying to really hone in my game some. It definitely made it so that some of my tournaments weren’t as great as I would have liked them to be. This one felt really good just knowing that my work is paying off and that some of the changes I’m making are starting to come together.”

UVA freshman Jennifer Cleary (Wilmington, Del.) finished fourth at 8-oer 224. She had rounds of 75, 76 and 73.
