Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia plays its second consecutive tournament in Florida to open the 2021 season when the Hoos tee it up Monday for the Timuquana Collegiate. The 11-team event takes place at Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville and features 36 holes of stroke play on Monday followed by a final round on Tuesday. UVA is scheduled to tee off starting at 8:33 a.m. and will start on the first tee.

Timuquana Country Club has been the site of several championship events. It was founded in 1923 and originally designed by the legendary Donald Ross.

Joining Virginia is the field are co-hosts North Florida and Jacksonville along with Florida, Florida State, UCF, South Florida, Notre Dame, Purdue, Oklahoma State and Liberty. Ranked teams in the field include Oklahoma State at No. 5 in the latest Golfweek standings while Florida State is No. 13 and Florida is No. 28.

UVA’s lineup will be the same as it fielded for the Camp Creek Seminole Invitational to open the season. Graduate student Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), senior Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.), sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy), freshman Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) and freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) will be UVA’s team scoring players. Freshman Grayson Wotnosky (Wake Forest, N.C.) will compete as an individual.

Bovari’s 31st place finish (+4, 220) was UVA’s top finish at Camp Creek. Duangmanee, after getting off to a slow start on day one, rebounding by shooting -2 over his final two rounds during his collegiate debut.
