Jacksonville, Fla. – The Virginia men’s golf team posted impressive back-to-back rounds to finish the first day of the Timuquana Collegiate in first place. Virginia shot 13-under 275 during Monday’s morning round and followed that up with an 11-under 277 in the afternoon. The Cavaliers’ two-round total of 24-under 552 leads the 11-team field at Jacksonville’s Timuquana Country Club.

UVA’s five-man team recorded nine of 10 rounds below par during the day. The Cavaliers enter Tuesday’s final round with a seven-shot advantage over second-place Florida.

Virginia was led by freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) who posted scores of 67 and 69 to finish the day tied for fourth place at 8-under 136. He posted a total of 11 birdies over 36 holes, tying for the most on the first day of play. In his first two tournaments as a collegiate, he has shot under par in his last four rounds.

Sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) is in sixth place at 7-under 137 and senior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is in ninth place at 6-under 138. Bovari had rounds of 67 and 70 while Orischak shot 70 and 68. Both players finished the day with 10 birdies.

Freshman Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) is in 16th place at 3-under 141 (71-70) while senior Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) is 51st at 3-over 147 (75-72).
