CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Attacker Ashlyn McGovern (Phoenix, Md.) was named to the 2021 Preseason All-ACC At-Large Team and the Virginia women’s lacrosse team was voted to finish fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced on Tuesday (Feb. 9).

McGovern, who was named an honorable mention Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, is the top-returning attacker for the Cavaliers. In 2020, she led the attack with 15 goals and had five games with multiple goals. McGovern opened last season with five goals, including the game-winner, in UVA’s overtime win at Navy.

Virginia was 5-3 in 2020 when the season was cut short due to COIVD-19. The Cavaliers return 20 players that saw action in 2020, including eight starters. UVA also adds a highly touted freshman class that includes five Under Armour All-Americans.
