CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Following two weeks off, the Virginia men’s golf team resumes action this week at The Collegiate Invitational at the Country Club of Birmingham. The 54-hole tournament will take place April 5-7.

The tournament, originally scheduled for Shoal Creek Country Club was moved to the Country Club of Birmingham (par 71, 7,000 yards) after recent tornadoes in the state of Alabama caused significant damage to the Shoal Creek course.

UVA’s lineup will feature seniors Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Phillipines), sophomores Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) and Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) and freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.).

Bovari leads UVA with a 72.83 stroke average while Gao was the Cavaliers’ top finisher in their last tournament at the Linger Longer Invitational. He placed third, his best collegiate finish, while recording his career-best tournament score (-8, 208).

The tournament’s field features nine teams ranked in this week’s Golfstat standings: No. 29 Alabama, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 9 Auburn, Charlotte, No. 4 Clemson, No. 12 Georgia, Kentucky, No. 23 LSU, Mississippi State, No. 22 North Florida, Ole Miss, No. 19 Tennessee, UAB and No. 10 Vanderbilt.
