MILTON, Ga. – The No. 31 Virginia men’s golf team finished seventh in stroke play at the 2021 ACC Championships at the Capital City Club’s Crabapple Course in Milton, Ga. After Saturdays’ round was washed out due to rain, play resumed Sunday morning. The Cavaliers shot 7-over 287 during the third round for a 54-hole total of 19-over 859.

The top four teams advanced to the match play portion of the event. North Carolina finished first in stroke play at 814 followed by Clemson (829), NC State (831) and Florida State (845).

Freshman George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.) was UVA’s top finisher. He shot even par 70 on Sunday to place 22nd at 3-over 213. First-year Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) and senior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) were one shot behind him in 28th place. Fosdick posted a 75 on Sunday while Orischak matched Duangmanee’s 70 as the low round on the team for the final day of play.

Sophomore Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy) finished in 39th place at 219 and junior Jack Montague (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) was 57th at 232.

UVA entered the event as the number-nine seed. A total of 10 of the 12 teams in the field are ranked in the top 40 of this week’s Golfstat poll.

The Cavaliers will now await an invitation to a NCAA Regional championship site slated for May 17-19. The field for this year’s tournament will be announced by the NCAA on May 5.
