CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  Virginia field hockey head coach Michele Madison announced today (May 17) that Ole Keusgen has been promoted to associate head coach.

“Please join me in congratulating Ole on his promotion to associate head coach,” Madison said. “I applaud and recognize Ole’s dedication and commitment to our program’s goals and the everyday grind to become a champion! We have been together in this pursuit since the day he stepped on grounds.”

Keusgen joined the staff in 2015 as an assistant coach, focusing on the Cavalier’s defense. Since coming to UVA, the team has won the 2016 ACC Championship, 2017 ACC regular-season title and advanced to the 2019 NCAA National Championship Semifinals.

In addition to serving as an assistant coach for the Cavaliers, Keusgen has been a coach with USA Field Hockey junior high performance for the last four years. He was the head coach U-19 Women’s National Team in 2019 after serving as a coach for the program and a mentor for the Junior High Performance program in 2017. For the past several years, he has served as the head coach of the US Rise National Team, the de-facto U-19 junior national team.

“I’m honored and grateful for this opportunity,” said Keusgen. “I love this team and always look forward to work alongside Michele. This program has meant so much to me and I hope to continue to contribute to this team in setting them up for success.”
