CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey rising senior Greer Gill (Virginia Beach, Va.) and rising sophomores Alexandra Morgan (Winnetka, Ill.) and Meghen Hengerer (Bedminster, N.J.)  have been selected to attend the women’s 2022 U-21 and Development Selection Camp, as announced today (June 24) by USA Field Hockey.

Gill will be attending the Development Selection Camp with Morgan and Hegerer at the U-21 trials. The U.S. Women’s National Development Team accounts for the transitional phase between the U-21 USWNT and the senior USWNT. The players were selected from their performances at the 2021 Young Women’s National Championship held last week in Virginia Beach, Va.

“What a boost in confidence for Greer, Meghen and Xas to be selected among the best field hockey athletes in the country at the Young Women’s National Championship,” Virginia head coach Michele Madison said.

Both Selection Camps will take place in December 2021 or January 2022, with more information to be confirmed. Based on their performance at the Selection Camps, these athletes are up for evaluation to be named to the 2022 U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team and U.S. Women’s National Development Team. Additionally, the women’s Development Selection Camp group will train and compete this summer against the Junior Pan American Championship Training Squad.

Virginia assistant coach Rachel Dawson is the head coach of the Women’s Development Team.
