CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Virginia’s men’s golf team has been named a Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team. The Cavaliers were among only 41 Division I programs to earn President’s Special Recognition status for having a team grade point average of 3.5 or better.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year. Teams with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5 were named All-Academic.

This year Virginia placed four players on the All-ACC Academic team – Pietro Bovari (Milano, Italy), George Duangmanee (Fairfax, Va.), Chris Fosdick (Middlefield, Conn.) and Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). A total of 10 Cavaliers received ACC Honor Roll honors for posting a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Richmond (Division I), Lander (Division II), Augsburg (Division III), Cumberland (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA Division I),Meridian (NJCAA Division II), and Virginia Union (HBCU) were all named Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in their respective divisions.
