Virginia Announces 2021-22 Squash Schedules
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head coach Mark Allen announced the schedules for the men’s and women’s squash teams’ 2021-22 seasons on Wednesday (Aug. 25). The Cavaliers will host seven regular-season matches at the McArthur Squash Center.
“I think every member of our program is eagerly counting down the days until our opening matches in November,” Allen said. “Our women’s team hasn’t competed since February 2020, and our men’s team has only played two matches in that same 18-month window, so we can’t wait to get started. Practice starts in less than a week’s time and we will be working hard to be in the best shape possible for Navy, Yale and Columbia in that opening week of competition.”
The men and the women open the season with road matches in November. The men will play at Navy (Nov. 10) with both teams traveling to take on a slate of Ivy League opponents in Yale (Nov. 13), Columbia (Nov. 14), Penn (Nov. 19), Princeton (Nov. 20) and a match against Cornell (Nov. 21) in Philadelphia.
In December, the Cavaliers open the month with three home events, with both teams hosting Dartmouth (Dec. 3) and Franklin & Marshall (Dec. 4). The men close out the 2021 portion of the schedule by hosting MIT on Dec. 5.
The squads return from their winter break to host the reigning men’s and women’s national champions Harvard on Jan. 9 as well as a Sunday match against Tufts (Jan. 10). Both teams travel to Philadelphia mid-month to play at Drexel (Jan. 23) and against Colby at the US Squash Center (Jan. 23). The men and the women host Denison (Jan. 29) and Dickinson (Jan. 30) to close out the regular season.
This year’s MASC Championships will take place Feb. 4-6 in Lancaster, Pa. The men’s CSA National Championships will take place Feb. 18-20 in Philadelphia with the women’s tournament a week later in Boston. Both the men’s and women’s individual championships will be held in Philadelphia from March 4-6.
Match times will be announced closer to the competition dates.
