ROLAND, Ark. – The fourth-ranked Virginia women’s golf team finished fifth in the stroke play portion of the inaugural Jackson T. Stephens Cup at the Alotian Club in Roland, Ark. UVA completed the two-day, 54-hole event at 37-over 901. LSU took the team title at 18-over 882.

UVA will face sixth-place finisher Baylor in a match play event on Wednesday to wrap up the tournament.

The Cavaliers were led in stroke play by junior Virginia Bossi. She shot 7-over 223 to place eighth. It was her second-straight top-10 finish this season after placing seventh at the season-opening Windy City Collegiate. She entered the tournament ranked No. 16 in the latest Golfstat individual standings.

Senior Riley Smyth was 14th at 10-over 226 while first-year Amanda Sambach and junior Celeste Valinho tied for 23rd at 229. Graduate student Beth Lillie was 28th at 233.
