CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 18/1 Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams host NR/24 North Carolina on Friday afternoon and 3/5 NC State on Saturday at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.

Friday’s meet will begin with diving at 9:30 a.m. and swimming at 12:30 p.m. It was originally scheduled for 12 p.m. diving and 3 p.m. swimming, but has been moved up due to potential inclement weather.

Saturday will be Senior Day, with diving at 10 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m.

IN THE RANKINGS

  • Virginia’s women remained No. 1 in the rankings with a 4-0 dual meet record.
  • UVA’s men are No. 18 in the rankings with a 1-3 dual meet record.
  • North Carolina’s women (2-2) are ranked No. 24, while the men (1-3) are receiving votes.
  • NC State’s men (5-0) are ranked No. 3 and the women (5-0) are No. 5.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Cavaliers are coming off a dual meet at Virginia Tech. UVA’s women won 193-107, while the men fell 187-113.
  • Freshman Gretchen Walsh won three individual events, while juniors Maddie Donohoe and Kate Douglass and sophomore Alex Walsh each had two wins.
  • Matt King, Noah Nichols and Justin Grender picked up wins on the men’s side.

NORTH CAROLINA

  • Virginia swept the dual against North Carolina in 2021.
  • The Tar Heel women have five top 10 times in the ACC this season, led by Grace Countie with three of those top times. She ranks in the Top 10 in the ACC in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 back.
  • Tucker Burhans holds the 10th fastest time in the ACC in the 100 back on the men’s side.

NC STATE

  • NC State is coming off a sweep of Duke on Saturday (January 15).
  • The women’s meet will feature some of the top swimmers in the country.
  • UVA holds the top times in the ACC in 10 events, while NC State has the top times three events.
  • UVA and NC State have the top two times in eight events in the ACC.
  • On the men’s side, NC State has the top time in the ACC in seven events.

SENIOR DAY

  • UVA will honor eight seniors this weekend: Carter Bristow, Walker Creedon, Katie Cronin, Justin Grender, Julia Menkhaus, Jessica Nava, Casey Storch and Alexis Wenger.
