CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s soccer had three players named to the All-ACC Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday (Jan. 27).

Sophomore goalkeeper Holden Brown, freshman midfielder Apsaruh Slavov and junior defender Andreas Ueland earned the academic honors.

Brown played every minute in goal for the Cavaliers in 2021. The Zionsville, Ind., native led the ACC in saves (86) and save percentage (.761). Brown had a career-high 10 saves against Wake Forest in the ACC Tournament and made five or more saves in eight games.

Slavov started all 17 games he appeared in at midfield for UVA. The Alpharetta, Ga., native had one goal and one assist in his first season with the Cavaliers. He was an All-Freshman Team selection after playing 1496 minutes, fourth-most for UVA in 2021.

Ueland played every minute of the 17 games he appeared in. The Bryne, Norway, native led UVA’s defensive unit that saw four shutouts in 2021. Ueland scored a brace, converting two penalty kicks, in the win over High Point. He added an assist in the win over Western Michigan.
