No. 7 Virginia Cruises to Two Wins at Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 7 Virginia Women’s squash team (9-3) improved to 5-0 at home after a pair of decisive wins against Chatham (0-12), and Denison (1-4) at the McArthur Squash Center on Saturday.

Sydney Maxwell started Virginia off on the right foot with a convincing 11-1, 11-1, 11-1 victory as the Hoos cruised to victory over Chatham. Amanda Haywood earned the clinching point with an 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 win over Bandhana Phuyal as Virginia went on to complete the sweep.

It was more of the same in the second match of the day as the Cavaliers made quick work of Denison. Competing in the second position Maria Moya downed Charlotte Sigg 11-1, 11-2, 11-1 to open the scoring for Virginia. Meagan Best clinched the victory for the Hoos in her second win of the day (11-1, 11-0, 11-1).
