No. 9 Virginia Sweeps Two Matches at Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (8-5) improved to 5-0 at home after a pair of decisive wins against No. 13 Chatham (8-3), and Denison (5-3) at the McArthur Squash Center on Saturday.

Virginia’s Omar El Torkey got things started early for the Cavaliers against Chatham. El Torkey cruised to two early wins by a score of 11-4, 11-2 and finished off Chatham’s Abdul Malik by a score of 11-9. Following El Torkey in order of finish was Drew Barr who earned a hard-fought victory over Chatham’s Alaaldin Abdelkhalik (12-10, 9-11, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6). Charles Braff clinched the match for the Hoos with an 11-7, 11-5, 11-9 victory.

The Cavaliers capped off the day by gliding to their third sweep in as many games with a 9-0 win over Denison. Cullen Little earned the opening point in an 11-9, 11-6, 11-3 victory and the Hoos never looked back. Drew Barr swiftly defeated Denison’s Mark Taylor to clinch the match for Virginia (11-0, 11-2, 11-2).

  • Will Holey competed in his 50th match for Virginia and picked up a win for the Cavaliers (11-3, 11-5, 11-5)
  • Aly Hussein improved to 11-1 on the season and increased his current win-streak to eight
