CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s basketball team (3-20, 0-13 ACC) hosts Miami (13-10, 6-7 ACC) on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m.. at John Paul Jones Arena.

NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • This is the first of four-straight home games to close out the regular-season for the Cavaliers
  • The Miami game is a rescheduled contest that was originally supposed to be played on Jan. 2. Virginia has had seven games postponed or canceled this season, including last Thursday’s contest at Louisville
  • Virginia matched its highest offensive output of the season when it scored 70 points on Tuesday against Syracuse. UVA shot 48.1 percent from the field (26-of-54), their second-best shooting night of the season
  • Virginia has won the rebounding battle in each of the last four games including being +2 at Wake Forest. The Cavaliers grabbed a season-high 49 rebounds against Clemson
  • The Cavaliers had a 13-0 run spanning the end of the first half and the first nearly five minutes of the second. It matched the longest scoring run of the season for UVA. The Cavaliers also had a 13-0 run two games before in the Clemson game as well as in their home game against NC State
  • Sophomore guard Mir McLean had her first collegiate double-double at Wake Forest, scoring 11 points with 11 rebounds. It was the second Cavalier double-double this year
  • The 11 rebounds was a career best and her second double-digit rebounding game in the last four games
  • McLean had her first 20-point performance the previous game against Syracuse, giving her back-to-back games with career-best performances
  • Virginia scored 30 of its 53 points against Wake Forest in the paint
  • Eleah Parker blocked three shots at Wake. She has blocked at least one shot in each of the last six games and has multiple blocks in four of the last five
  • Parker is fifth in the ACC in blocked shots per game (1.71)
  • Parker has 36 blocked shots so far this season. She is 10 shy of breaking into the program’s top-10 list for blocks in a single season.
  • Parker has 269 career blocks. She ranks 4th among active players in blocked shots and is 10th among active players in blocks per game at 2.45

SCOUTING MIAMI

  • Miami is coming off a 76-59 home win against Florida State on Sunday, completing the season-sweep of the Seminoles
  • The Hurricanes are in a three-way tie for seventh place in the conference with Boston College and Florida State at 6-7
  • Miami is fourth in the ACC in steals per game
  • Kelsey Marshall is ranked ninth in the ACC in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game
  • Miami has two French players, senior Naomi Mbandu and junior Kenza Salgues, who both attended INSEP (National Institute of Sport, Expertise, and Performance) in Paris. UVA’s Amandine Toi also trained and studied at INSEP. The Hurricanes also have a third French native, grad student Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi from Paris
  • Senior guard Karla Erjavec is from Zagreb, Croatia, the same hometown as graduate student forward Tihana Stojsavljevic. Both were members of Croatian Junior National teams, but are in different age groups
  • The teams are 10-10 overall and 8-8 in ACC contests against one another
  • Miami has won seven of the last eight meetings. Virginia’s last victory was a 76-56 victory in Charlottesville in 2016
  • Miami won the last meeting in 2020, 69-64, at JPJ

  • Virginia hosts Duke on Thursday, Feb. 17 in a #Play4Kay game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and the first 500 fans will receive a free Play4Kay t-shirt. The game tips at 7 p.m.
