MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – Virginia women’s basketball forward Camryn Taylor has signed a training camp contract with the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx as was announced Tuesday (April 23).

Taylor is the first Cavalier to sign with a WNBA team since Jocelyn Willoughby was selected No. 10 overall by the Phoenix Mercury in the 2020 WNBA Draft.

A native of Peoria, Illinois, Taylor transferred to UVA in 2021 after a two-year stint at Marquette (2019-21). In 127 career games, she averaged 12.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 48 percent from the field.

In 2022-23, she was tabbed a Second Team All-ACC selection after starting in all 30 possible games and leading the team in both scoring (13.9) and rebounding (6.3). She also finished seventh in the ACC in field goal percentage (45.9) and 10th in scoring.

Last season, Taylor averaged 14.8 points per game, the best among any single season of her collegiate career. She also led the team in rebounding (6.1) and double-doubles (4). Taylor recorded five 20-point performances in 2023-24, including when she scored a season-high 26 points in the Cavaliers’ overtime victory over Missouri (Nov. 30) in the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge. In a season the Hoos set a program record in free throw percentage, Taylor led the way as her 83.5 percentage from the line led the team and was fourth among all ACC players.

In front of a wave of WNBA executives, Taylor scored 12 points on 3-of-6 shooting, pulled down five rebounds and swatted four opponent shots at the 2024 Women’s College All-Star Game (April 6) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Training camp is set to begin April 28. Each WNBA team will compete in two preseason games beginning May 4. The WNBA’s final roster cutdown date is May 13, while the 2024 regular season begins on May 14.
