Virginia Ranked Fifth in Preseason Poll
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia is ranked No. 5 in the 2022 Preseason Pocock CRCA Women’s Rowing Poll presented by USRowing.
Defending national champion Texas opens 2022 at the top of the preseason rankings, earning 19 of the 25 first-place votes. Stanford University, which finished second in the team standings at the 2021 NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championships, ranked second in the poll and received the other six first-place votes. Washington, Michigan and Virginia rounded out the top five.
Ohio State is ranked No. 6, followed by Brown, Rutgers, Cal and Princeton. Syracuse, Yale, SMU, Duke and Alabama rounded out the top 15.
No. 5 Virginia opens the 2022 season by hosting No. 18 Tennessee, UCF and North Carolina at the UVA Invite on Saturday, March 26 at the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va.
