CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team opens its spring break trip by playing at the 25th annual Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C. at the historic Palmetto Golf Club. The tournament runs Monday and Tuesday.

The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes of play on Monday and a single round Tuesday. A shotgun start gets the tournament started at 8 a.m. each day. The Palmetto Golf Club, which was founded in 1892, is a par-70 course with the yardage set at 6,617 yards.

This year’s field includes USC Aiken, Charleston Southern, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Presbyterian, Samford, South Carolina, Temple, VCU, Virginia Tech and Wofford.

UVA, South Carolina and Virginia Tech will be paired together and start the tournament with players on the course’s first four holes.

Virginia’s lineup includes senior seniors Sam Jung and Jimmie Massie, junior Pietro Bovari and sophomores George Duangmanee and Chris Fosdick. In 2020, Bovari was fourth at 6-under 204 while Massie placed ninth (+1, 211) and Jung was 13th (+3, 213).

Last season the Cavaliers did not play in the event. Clemson won the tournament for the second consecutive year. The Cavaliers were the runners up in 2020 and 2019 after finishing first in 2018.
