CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team competes its two-tournament spring break trip this weekend at the 21st annual General Hackler Championships. The two-day, 54-hole event will feature 36 holes of play on Sunday and a single round on Monday. The event takes place at the par-72, 7,233-yard Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The 15-team field features Auburn, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Kent State, Liberty, Louisville, NC State, North Florida, Oklahoma State, Penn State, South Carolina, UCF and UNC Greensboro.

Virginia’s lineup includes the same five golfers that placed second earlier this week at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. The group includes senior seniors Sam Jung and Jimmie Massie, junior Pietro Bovari and sophomores George Duangmanee and Chris Fosdick

Jung and Duangmanee led UVA at the Palmetto Intercollegiate with fourth-place finishes. Both players shot even par 210. Jung’s tourney score, place finish and final 18-hole result (68) were all career bests. Duangmanee’s finish marked his fourth top-10 outing as a Cavalier and equaled his best-ever tournament showing.

This will mark UVA’s first appearance at the General Hackler Championships since placing third in 2018. Former Cavalier Andrew Orischak tied for second to lead Virginia.
