CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Three members of the Virginia softball team earned All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) it was announced by the organization on Thursday (May 19).

Catcher Leah Boggs was named a first-team selection, while designated player Tori Gilbert was named a second-team selection and shortstop Katie Goldberg was named a third-team selection. Virginia is in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the NFCA.

The three All-Region selections is the most in a season for Virginia since the 2012 season.

NFCA member head coaches from each respective region nominated student-athletes and voted for the teams. All awarded student-athletes now become eligible for the 2022 NFCA Division I All-America squads. The 2022 NFCA Division I All-America teams, voted on by the NFCA DI All-American Committee, will be announced on Wednesday, June 1.

Boggs is hitting at a .293 clip on the season and sits atop the ACC and is 14th nationally in runners caught stealing with 15 runners thrown out on steal attempts this year. She has four home runs this season and has 22 RBI as one of four Cavaliers to hit more than 20 RBI. She has also scored 22 runs and hit 13 doubles and a triple. Boggs is 8-for-11 in steal attempts this season.

Gilbert is hitting at a .269 clip and is the team leader in home runs with 11 this season. She is second on the team with 26 RBI and has scored a team leading 34 runs on the season. Her .586 slugging percentage is tops on the team this season. Gilbert is 10-for-12 in steal attempts this season.

Goldberg is hitting at a .264 clip this season and is tied for the team lead in RBI with 32 on the year. She is second on the team in home runs with 10 and has added eight doubles and two triples for a .528 slugging percentage. Goldberg is third on the team with 27 runs scored and has gone 4-for-5 in steal attempts.
