CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four Cavaliers earned Virginia Sports Information Director’s (VaSID) All-State University Division All-State honors it was announced on Tuesday (June 28) by the organization.

Junior shortstop Katie Goldberg, sophomore pitcher Madi Harris, senior pitcher Aly Rayle and senior outfielder Bailey Winscott were all named to the second team.

Goldberg tied for the team lead in home runs with 12 and was the team leader in RBI with 36. She also led the team in multiple-hit games with 12 and led the team with 11 multiple-RBI games, including a six RBI performance against Bowling Green in the National Invitational Softball Championship. She was an NFCA All-Region third-team selection.

Harris set the single-season record for saves with six, including four against ACC competition, and tallied a 2.60 ERA through her 29.2 innings of work. She posted a win in relief at NC State swept the Wolfpack and posted saves against NC State, two in the series sweep at Boston College, at No. 2 Virginia Tech and in the series sweep of Pittsburgh.

Rayle posted a 5-5 record with a 3.01 ERA and a pair of saves through 69.2 innings of work and 22 appearances for the Cavaliers. She tallied a win and a save in the series sweep at NC State and repeated that in the series sweep of Pittsburgh. She also worked a complete game in the series clinching win over No. 24 Notre Dame while allowing only one run to the Irish.

Winscott hit at a .262 clip on the season and was a spark for the Cavaliers in the nine hole for most of the season as she delivered 27 free bases with 24 walks and three hit by pitch on the year. She was 9-for-12 in steal attempts and added 18 runs and five RBI. She was also perfect in the outfield and added three assists on 64 chances.

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
