Rachel Clark Named VaSID Rookie of the Year

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Rachel Clark was named the 2022 VaSID Rookie of the Year and was one of four All-State Team selections for the Cavaliers, as announced Thursday (June 30) by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

Additionally, redshirt senior Ashlyn McGovern, Sophomore Aubrey Williams and sophomore Mackenzie Hoeg were VaSID All-State First Team selections.

Clark was the ACC Freshman of the Year and was an Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention. She led the Cavaliers in points with 75, earning All-ACC Second Team, ACC All-Freshman, and IWLCA All-South Region honors. She set a Virginia freshman record, scoring 64 goals in 18 games, recording 14 hat tricks, and coming in fourth in the ACC in goals per game (3.20).

VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in Virginia.
