CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia head softball coach Joanna Hardin announced the addition of graduate transfer Jenny Bressler to the program on Thursday (June 30). Bressler (UNLV), a right-handed pitcher, will join the Cavaliers for the 2022-23 academic year.

“We are so excited to add Jenny to the UVA softball family,” Hardin said. “She is a great fit for our program and her experience and success at UNLV is a huge addition to our bullpen. We are grateful she will finish out her collegiate career as a Cavalier.”

Bressler will join the Virginia program after a four-year career at UNLV that saw her post a 78-22 record through 131 appearances. She tallied a career 1.90 ERA with 599 strikeouts and only allowed 213 walks through her 617.1 career innings of work. In her time in the circle, she held opponents to a .220 batting average against. She also posted 12 saves in her career to set the UNLV career mark. Bressler tallied 50 complete games and 24 shutouts.

This past season, Bressler set the UNLV single-season saves record with six. Her 78 career wins is second all-time at UNLV and her 599 career strikeouts is fourth all-time at UNLV. Her 225 strikeouts last year as a senior set the single-season mark at UNLV – passing the mark set by three-time Olympic champion Lori Harrigan in 1991. Bressler’s career winning percentage of .781 is the best in UNLV and Mountain West history.

As a freshman at UNLV, Bressler was named an NFCA All-Region first team selection and Mountain West All-Conference first team selection. She followed that up with Mountain West All-Conference first-team honors again as a sophomore in a COVID shortened season and for a third time as a junior. This past season, she was an NFCA All-Region third team selection and Mountain West All-Conference first team selection.

She is a three-time Mountain West Scholar Athlete honoree and three-time Spring Academic All-Mountain West honoree. She is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection and was a 2021 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. Bressler will be pursuing a masters in accounting in the McIntire School of Commerce at UVA.

Bressler joins a Cavalier squad that will also welcome the No. 15-ranked signing class to Grounds in the fall. Virginia is coming off a sixth-place finish in the ACC standings last season and advanced to the National Invitational Softball Championship and tied the program record for ACC wins in a season. Virginia also posted the most wins in a season since that 2010 season.
