CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team opens its season this week at the Allstate Streamsong Invitational at Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla. The two-day tournament takes place Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 12-13. The field will play 36 holes Monday and a final round on Tuesday. The 13-team tournament is hosted by Lipscomb.

The field includes Ball State, Chattanooga, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Alabama, Stetson, Texas State, USC Upstate and Winthrop.

Monday’s opening round features an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. with teams teeing off from the first and 10th tees. Virginia is paired with Lipscomb and Jacksonville during the opening two rounds.

The Cavaliers’ lineup for the opener includes sophomore Deven Patel, freshman Ben James, senior Pietro Bovari, junior Chris Fosdick and junior George Duangmanee. Freshman Bryan Lee will compete as an individual.

Bovari led UVA in stroke average in 2021-22 at 71.06. Earlier this month he helped Italy to the World Amateur Team Championship in Paris where he placed 11th in stroke play. Duangmanee was second in stroke average last season at 72.08. Patel was honored as the 2022 rookie of the year for Virginia by the commonwealth’s sports information directors. James finished his amateur career as the top-ranked player in the nation while Lee was ranked No. 8.
