 NOTING THE CAVALIERS

  • Virginia remained at No. 6 in last week’s NFHCA poll. The new poll will come out on Tuesday afternoon
  • Virginia had its six-match win streak snapped with a 1-0 setback against Wake Forest on Friday night. It was Virginia’s first time being shut out this season
  • All four of Virginia’s losses this season have been by a single goal. Virginia’s last 16 losses have been by that same margin, a streak dating back to the spring portion of the 2020-21 COVID split season
  • Senior Laura Janssen leads the team with eight goals and is tied for the team lead with 17 points
  • Freshman Daniela Mendez-Trendler also has 17 points with seven goals and three assists. Mendez-Trendler has scored her seven goals on 14 shots on goal (21 overall shots)
  • Grad student Annie McDonough leads the team with five assists
  • Jet Trimborn picked up her first career loss against Wake Forest. Trimborn, who has started the last seven games for the Cavaliers, has a 0.82 goals-against average

NOTING LIBERTY

  • Liberty is coming off a 1-0 win against Temple on Friday night to improve to 5-0 in the Big East. All nine of their wins this season have been shutout victories
  • The Flames have two road conference contests remaining in the regular season, playing at Providence this Friday and at Old Dominion the following Friday before returning to Norfolk for the Big East Championship Nov. 4-6
  • The Flames were the 2021 NCAA Championship runners-up, going 20-3 last season. They began the year ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll
  • Daniella Rhodes leads the team with 30 points with 10 goals and 10 assists. Seven players on the team have double-digit points
  • Goalkeeper Azul Iritxity Irigoyen has a 1.12 goals-against average with a .700 save percentage
  • Virginia is 5-1 all-time against Liberty. This is the first meeting since 2019
