No. 5 Virginia Falls 6-3 to No. 4 Yale

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 5 Virginia men’s squash team (1-1) fell 6-3 to No. 4 Yale (1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Squash Center.

MEN’S RESULTS

Virginia took an early 2-0 lead with wins from Aly Hussein and Myles McIntyre. Yale won the next five matches to secure the win. Omar El Torkey added a win for the Cavaliers and Teddy Durfee won his exhibition match to highlight the day for UVA.

Hussein grabbed his win in his first appearance of the season at the top of the ladder, defeating Yale’s Siow Yee Xian, 3-0 (11-3, 11-5, 11-3). It was also McIntyre’s first match this season. He opened with an 11-2 win in the first game. McIntyre dropped the second game but rallied to win the next two and the point for UVA.

MATCH NOTES

  • The top five positions were all decided in straight games, while the other five positions went to four or five games.
  • Evan Hajek and Tyler Mackesy both won their first two games but dropped the last three to fall 2-3.
