McGovern, Williams Named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-Americans

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Graduate student Ashlyn McGovern and junior Aubrey Williams were named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-Americans, the organization announced on Tuesday (Jan. 10).

Williams was named to the third team after posting a UVA single season record of 149 draw controls in 2022. An IWLCA Third Team All-American, she started all 20 games as the draw specialist for the Cavaliers and grabbed double-digit draws in six games. Williams ranked third in the ACC and 10th in the NCAA with 7.45 draws per game.

McGovern is an honorable mention preseason selection. The attacker scored 63 goals in 2022, with multiple goals in 17 contests. She scored in all but one game to earn IWLCA Third Team All-America honors last season. McGovern recorded 14 hat tricks and finished sixth in the ACC with 3.15 goals per game.
