CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Graduate student Ashlyn McGovern and sophomore Rachel Clark were named to the Preseason All-ACC At-Large Team, the conference office announced on Tuesday (Feb. 7).

McGovern and Clark are also Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans and McGovern is a US Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American.

McGovern scored 63 goals in 2022, with multiple goals in 17 contests. She scored in all but one game to earn IWLCA Third Team All-America honors last season. McGovern recorded 14 hat tricks and finished sixth in the ACC with 3.15 goals per game.

Clark returns as the reigning ACC Rookie of the Year from 2022. The Devon, Pa., native scored a UVA freshman record 64 goals to lead the Cavaliers last season. Clark led the Cavaliers with 75 points on the season. She recorded multiple goals in 16 contests with 14 of those being hat tricks. She scored multiple goals in six of UVA’s last seven games. She ranked second in the ACC in free position percentage (.615), fourth in goals per game (3.20) and 10th in points per game (3.75).

Virginia was picked to finish sixth in the ACC Preseason Poll. Reigning NCAA Champion North Carolina was picked to finish first.

Virginia is entering its 48th season and the 28th under Myers. The Cavaliers advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 in 2022 to extend their postseason streak to 27-straight. UVA knocked off 3-seed Syracuse in the ACC Quarterfinals to advance to the ACC Semifinals in the 2022 ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers are ranked No. 13 in the preseason polls.

UVA opens the 2023 season on Friday (Feb. 10) at Stanford and will play UC Davis in a neutral site game on Sunday (Feb. 12) in Palo Alto, Calif.
