PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 8 Virginia women’s squash team (11-4) knocked off No. 5 Cornell (9-4) with a 6-3 win on Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa.

Virginia had three sweeps on the day and three 3-1 wins. Maria Moya swept at two, Emma Jinks won 3-0 at four and Maureen Foley won 3-0 at seven.

Lina Tammam dropped her first game but came back to win the next three for a 3-1 win at three. Olivia Walsh won her first two games and then secured the match with an 11-1 win in the fourth game. Julia Curran fell in the first game but bounced back for the 3-1 victory at nine.

Nasreen Hashmi battled to a 3-2 win in exhibition at 10. Meagan Best won her first and fourth games to force a tiebreaker but eventually fell 3-2 at No. 1. Nicolina Tessitore fell 3-0 at eight.
