CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 13 Virginia women’s lacrosse team (2-0) continues its road swing on Saturday (Feb. 18) at No. 16 Princeton (0-0) at Sherrerd Field for a noon opening draw.

  • UVA opened the 2023 season with wins over No. 14 Stanford and UC Davis in Palo Alto, Calif.
  • The Cavaliers came from behind in both games.
  • Virginia trailed Stanford 6-4 at halftime but came out strong with back-to-back goals to start the second half. UVA outscored the Cardinal 10-5 in the second half.
  • Against UC Davis, the Cavaliers fell behind 3-0 to start the contest, but fought back to tie the game at the half and outscore Davis 10-6 in the second half.
  • Sophomore Rachel Clark led the Cavaliers with seven goals and added two assists in UVA’s two games.
  • Virginia took control of the draw circle in the second and fourth quarters in the win over UC Davis, winning the draws 7-2 in both quarters. UVA led 22-11 in the game.
  • The Cavaliers took care of the ball against Stanford with just eight turnovers.


  • UVA and Princeton share a storied history dating back to 1981, with the teams meeting for the 42nd time on Saturday.
  • The Cavaliers hold a 22-19 lead in the series but trail 7-10 in games played at Princeton.
  • Virginia fell 17-11 to Princeton in the most recent meeting on Feb. 20, 2022.


Virginia will host its home opener on Saturday, Feb. 25 against Louisville at 1 p.m. at Klöckner Stadium.
