CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 13th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team plays its second tournament of the spring when the Cavaliers compete at the 11th-annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Feb. 27-March 1. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is held at the Long Cove Club (par-71, 6,266 yards) in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Each round starts at 9:20 a.m. from the first and 10th tees.

This year’s field includes (with Golfstat ranking): Alabama (46), Arizona State (12), Arkansas (31), Auburn (15), Baylor (9), Duke (30), Furman, Georgia (32), Howard, Kentucky (23), LSU (6), Northwestern (19), Oregon (3), South Carolina (4), Texas (10), Vanderbilt (20), Virginia (13) and Wake Forest (2).

Virginia’s lineup features Amanda Sambach, Megan Propeck, Riley Smyth, Jennifer Cleary and Celeste Valinho. All of those players, except for Valinho, were in the lineup for UVA’s spring opener at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club.

The Cavaliers finished 10th in that event as illness among the players limited UVA from completing a single round with all five players on the course. Sambach was UVA’s top finisher, placing 10th at 6-over 222.

This is UVA’s first appearance at “The Rucker” since placing 17th in 2020. Smyth is the only current Cavalier who played in that event. She placed 56th at 230.

The tournament’s namesake is South Carolina alumnus and music superstar Darius Rucker who is an avid golfer and puts on a private concert for the sponsors, members and tournament teams after Sunday’s practice round.

For the second straight year, the event will be televised on Golf Channel. Live coverage takes place from 2:30 to 5:30 each day.

Live scoring for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate will be available on Golfstat.com.
