CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 15 Virginia men’s golf will play in the Wake Forest Invitational at Pinehurst No. 2 on March 6-7 in Pinehurst, N.C. The field will play 36 holes on Monday starting with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday’s final round also gets underway at 8:30 a.m.

The field features (Golfstat ranking): Clemson (43), College of Charleston, Duke (31), East Tennessee State (41), Iowa,  NC State, Northwestern (29), SMU, UNC Greensboro (49) and Wake Forest (33).

The Cavaliers will be paired with Wake Forest and Clemson during the opening round. They will tee off from the first through fifth holes.

Virginia is coming off a fourth-place finish at the 14-team team Dorado Beach Collegiate. UVA was led by freshman Ben James who placed fourth at 12-under 204. It marked the fourth top-four finish he has produced this year. Classmate Bryan Lee, playing in his third event, was 13th at 8-under 208.

They will be in joined in the UVA lineup by Chris Fosdick, George Duangmanee and Devel Patel. Jaron Leasure will compete as an individual. Jaron Leasure will compete as an individual for UVA.

James currently leads the Cavaliers with a 69.07 stroke average. He enters the Wake Forest Invitational ranked No. 16 in the Golfstat poll.
